01 — Category

Medical evaluations

Visits centered on understanding your symptoms, history, and goals.

Pain Management

A pain management consultation is a conversation and a clinical evaluation. You describe what you are feeling, when it started, and how it affects your day. A provider reviews your history and examines the areas involved.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Pain that has continued for weeks or months
  • Discomfort that began after a collision or a workplace incident
  • Neck, back, joint, or muscle pain that limits movement

What you may expect

A discussion about your symptoms, history, and daily limitations

Important limitations

A consultation does not guarantee a diagnosis, a specific treatment, or a particular outcome. Treatment recommendations depend on your evaluation, and individual results and treatment needs vary.

Primary Care

Primary care visits give you time to discuss general health concerns and review how they may relate to pain, fatigue, sleep, or activity limits.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • General health concerns and routine checkups
  • Symptoms that are difficult to attribute to one cause
  • Health factors that may affect comfort, mobility, or recovery

What you may expect

A discussion of your health history and current concerns

Important limitations

A primary care visit is not a substitute for emergency care or for specialist evaluation when one is indicated.

Physical and supportive care

Hands-on and non-surgical services considered when clinically appropriate.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a non-surgical approach that focuses on the spine, joints, and surrounding muscles. It is used to support movement and musculoskeletal function.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Neck and back stiffness or limited range of motion
  • Musculoskeletal discomfort after an accident or work activity
  • Pain that increases with certain movements or postures

What you may expect

A review of your symptoms and relevant history

Important limitations

Chiropractic care is not appropriate for every patient or every symptom, and no approach is risk-free. Your provider will discuss suitability, alternatives, and considerations during your evaluation.

Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage uses hands-on techniques to address muscle tension and soft-tissue discomfort.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Muscle tightness in the neck, shoulders, or back
  • Stiffness that follows an accident or repetitive activity
  • Soft-tissue discomfort that limits comfortable movement

What you may expect

A short conversation about the areas that feel uncomfortable

Important limitations

Massage therapy is a supportive service. It is not a diagnostic test and it is not appropriate in every clinical situation. Individual responses vary.

Diagnostic testing

Tests that may add useful information to your evaluation.

X-Ray Services

An X-ray is a quick imaging test that produces pictures of bones and certain structures.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Suspected bone or joint injury after a collision or fall
  • Persistent pain in a specific area of the spine or a joint
  • Structural concerns that a physical evaluation alone cannot clarify

What you may expect

A short explanation of why imaging is being suggested

Important limitations

X-rays involve a small amount of radiation and do not show every type of injury, including many soft-tissue injuries. Tell your provider if you are or may be pregnant.

EMG Testing

EMG stands for electromyography. In plain language, it is a test that measures how your muscles and nerves are working.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Numbness or tingling in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  • Muscle weakness or unexplained changes in strength
  • Pain that radiates along a nerve pathway

What you may expect

An explanation of the test before it begins

Important limitations

An EMG provides information; it does not by itself determine treatment. Some patients find parts of the test briefly uncomfortable. Suitability is decided during your evaluation.

EEG Testing

EEG stands for electroencephalography. In plain language, it records the electrical activity of your brain using small sensors placed on the scalp.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Episodes of altered awareness or unusual sensations
  • Headaches accompanied by neurological symptoms
  • Symptoms that follow a head injury and warrant neurological review

What you may expect

Small sensors placed on the scalp with a gel or paste

Important limitations

An EEG is a diagnostic recording, not a treatment, and it does not detect every neurological condition. Whether it is appropriate depends on your evaluation.

Specialist consultations

Focused assessments when symptoms call for a specialist perspective.

Rheumatology Consultation

A rheumatology consultation focuses on joints, inflammation, and conditions that can affect connective tissue.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Joint pain, swelling, or warmth
  • Morning stiffness or symptoms that move between joints
  • Fatigue that accompanies joint discomfort

What you may expect

A detailed symptom and history review

Important limitations

Not every joint symptom indicates a rheumatic condition, and a consultation does not guarantee a specific diagnosis. Findings guide the discussion.

Psychological Consultation

Living with pain or recovering from an injury can affect mood, sleep, concentration, and confidence in your body.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Stress, worry, or low mood connected to pain or injury
  • Sleep disruption and fatigue
  • Difficulty adjusting after an accident or work injury

What you may expect

A conversation at a pace you are comfortable with

Important limitations

A consultation is not crisis care. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 or call 911.

Neurosurgery Consultation

A neurosurgery consultation is a specialist evaluation of symptoms that may involve the spine, nerves, or related structures.

Concerns it may help evaluate

  • Radiating pain from the neck or lower back into a limb
  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness that persists
  • Spine-related symptoms that have not responded to earlier care

What you may expect

A review of your symptoms, history, and any imaging you bring

Important limitations

A consultation does not mean surgery will be recommended. Any recommendation depends on your symptoms, examination, diagnostic findings, and individual circumstances.
